Qingdao, China

A Beachfront resort
|
|
Qingdao (pronounced chin-dao) is a coastal resort
city of population 1.2 million.
You can see photographers set up along the pier and on the rocky beach, ready
to snap a souvenir photo. In the background you can see some of the newer
high-rise buildings.
We crossed under the street to get from the bus to the shore. In the
underground was a shopping district. The trick was remembering which of the
stairways to climb to return to the bus. It took me two tries to properly
surface. |
|
|
Even today, on a chilly overcast morning, hundreds of people were walking
along the waterfront and pier.
Many of the buildings have links to a German past. |

The Brewery
|
|
The side trip to the Tsingtao Brewery
was an opportunity to sample some of the local beer!. Some of the production
machinerey looked a bit dated, but the bottles were flying off the bottleing
line. The grounds of the brewery were spotless as you can see from the
manicured gardens. |

Small Fish Park
|
|
The view from SMALL FISH PARK was somewhat obscured by
the overcast skies. But had it been a clear day there would have been a
wonderful 360 degree view.
|
|
Looking down from Small Fish Park you can see narrow beach
which draws 25,000 each day during the season. This is the most popular of the
city's beaches and is the one most commonly featured in articles about Qingdao.
